Hola all you lucky Andalou dwellers!

I am hoping this forum will be a good source for potential house swappers. My partner and I have recently completed the renovation of our stunning country casita in southern Catalunya. It is sorounded by ancient olive trees with views over the Els Ports mountains, with two bedrooms, both en suite with balconies, kitchen/diner and lounge and shaded terrace. We are hoping to find somebody with a similar size house in which we can stay whilst we complete some building/landscape garden work in the Lecrin Valley area. We plan to be in the area from Oct 08 until Dec 08. If you fancy a change of scene please email me with any questions.

Moving to the Adra area

We are buying a property between Adra and Berja and are wondering if there are other English speaking residents in that area. We are intending to integrate into the Spanish community and learn Spanish but are keen to meet others in the area.
Are there any social groups or meeting places? Restaurants and bars where people of other nationalities frequent.
Any information will be helpful. We have just spent 2 months down there so know the locality.

IBI Contributions

Help. I purchased a house in the village of Itrabo which is left empty when not in use. All the usual have been sorted except the IBI contributions. I believe this should come from the office in Orgiva. Having limited experience of the language does not help but I am getting there.

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction.

Robert and I are moving to Cadiar in April/May. Can anyone recommend a removal firm to help.We have had quotes from English firms terribly expensive and they will charge more I'm sure once they realise the location of our town house (quite steep climb limited parking). If you want to drink, that's your problem, if you want to stop, that's ours.

We have a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous at the Casa de la Cultura,
Frederico Garcia Lorca, every Wednesday ,at 4pm til 5-30 pm. It's on the 2 nd floor in the Ceramica Room. The only requirement for membership , is a desire to stop drinking. Come along and keep an open mind and you will be welcomed.Any more info required , just e-mail me .

Hello

I have come across this web site and noticed that people are able to ask informal questions on an area that is not as commonly known, and can get more accurate replies from people that are actually there.

We are coming out to the Costa Tropical later in the year, and would be most grateful if anyone could give us information on places to stay (for a week) in either Motril or Adra, which I think will be the most central areas for our visit.

I am a freelance graphic designer/web designer moving to Spain in September, and have some queries regarding self employment/ tax.
1. How do I register as self - employed in Spain, and how much does it cost?
2. How does this effect my tax? Can I keep my English clients, or does this mean I would end up paying tax twice?
